Comprehensive Private Health insurance provides cover for everything the hospital and surgical option includes, but also includes cover for consultations with Specialists at any time regardless of the need for surgery, and includes cover for minor tests such as x-rays and ultrasounds.

This additional option is suitable for someone who wants to know that if they need to see a specialist or have a diagnostic test that they can claim on the policy whatever the outcome. 

Health insurance policies include or have options for non-Pharmac funded medication. This is an essential component of Private Health insurance that should not be overlooked. 

Pharmac is the NZ government agency that selects which medications receive public funding. As a patient, you are able to have non-Pharmac funded medsafe approved medication, but this comes at a significant cost which without insurance is often unaffordable. Health insurance provides you affordable access to these lifesaving medicines.

This is an additional option that can be added to Base or Comprehensive cover, and provides cover for the cost of routine dental and optician appointments. This option is suitable for those who frequently use dentists and opticians.
